23. Forgive the 5-day absence. Work, DVDs, and... My parents have been extorting money from my sister for the last several years and extorted money out of me this past Christmas. How? By threatening to kick us out if we don't give each other Christmas and birthday presents. This year I've refused to give my sister a birthday present (her birthday was Friday, the 28th of February) and have found that, for the most part, that threat was quite empty. How can we be so easy to manipulate? We don't love each other by any definition of the term and we respect each other as little as we love each other. She still feels constant regret that I was ever born (she wanted a sister and, when I asked her what I did to her to have her not like me, she replied: "You were born.") and I'm not particularly fond of her (although I've never wanted her not born or to be a male) but for one reason I can think of (family unity) our parents have forced presents out of us for the least the last 5 years. I'm strongly considering paying her back at least $35 (the amount she and her boyfriend gave me for my birthday this year) and perhaps even more for all the presents she's given me in the past. She shouldn't have been forced to give me any presents and I don't think I should be forced to either. I'm not even going to get into how illegal it is to threaten to kick us out if we don't give each other gifts. The question: would you give a present to someone you don't love or respect, even if you were forced to? Current Music: Korn - Dead Bodies Everywhere |

To expand upon what I said on the BeyondUnreal Forums... I got, watched, and finished the last 5 parts of Love Hina and I've come to the following conclusion: As part of the double-edged sword theory, Love Hina is a lot like Neon Genesis Evangelion. On the good hand, they are both wonderful serii (plural for series?). On the bad hand, they end on a very jilted platform. It's agonizing to watch Love Hina and see Naru beat herself up concerning Keitaro, just as it's agonizing to watch NGE not knowing how things will result. But you KNOW things will turn end somehow...and you stick around to find out. Ultimately, seeing both serii end is heartbreaking because they are wonderful despite being dragged out and ending on a flat note. How do Shinji and Asuka recover from the Third Impact? Where does Keitaro and Naru's relationship take them? Obviously it's better than some cartoons which end abruptly and they can't go on forever but...what if they could? Oh well. It's not like I can do anything about it...except dream. Current Mood: blankCurrent Music: Korn - Beat It Up Right |

37. Me, to Mother Nature: You and your stupid blizzard can't stop me! The white stuff (read: not jizz...nor Oreo filling...nor sour cream...snow) continues to fall in one nice long block across my part of the country and, for the first time since I started working there, it caused the store to close early (by 3 hours). Of course, it remains to be seen if the store will be closed tomorrow. Either way, it's here and it's coming down hard and fast. Current Music: Disturbed - Liberate |

Forgot to add the story about buying the GameCube. November 2001 I won $1000 in Taco Bell's cross-promotion with Microsoft to p1mp the Xbox. Rather than bore you with the details on how it took me 3 months to get the $1000, I'll just say I got it, finally, in March 2002. One in a million odds of me winning. :) Nicest part is I got the Best Buy PRP with it so I've still got until March 2004 to screw it up somehow. ;) Current Music: System Of A Down - Storaged |

0. 38. Let's take a trip back in time, shall we? Since the SNES came out, I've sold all my previous systems and games to buy the new system. Sold my NES and games to get the SNES, sold my SNES and games to get the N64, sold my N64 and games to get...the Dreamcast? Whoops. Let's just say I sleep well at night knowing that was the biggest mistake I've made in my life thus far. Anyway, I've still not sold my Dreamcast mainly because I know the demand for a system such as that isn't too high, but also because I don't need to. I have a job, I get money. I can pay for stuff without having to sell other stuff to get it. (Not that getting the GameCube had anything to do with me having a job, story on that in a moment.) Anyway, in selling my N64 stuff one of the games I sold off was The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. I recall the hype surrounding this game and I wouldn't feel special if I couldn't say I owned the limited edition gold catridge (heh, cartridge) for the game. Strangely, I didn't sell the strategy guide with it. I had friends who had OoT so I tried giving them the guide but I couldn't get any takers. The guide is a nice bit of reading, but kind of pointless without the game it gives strategies for. Segue. So, today, I flew through OoT (on the bonus disc you get for pre-ordering The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker) up through the Forest Temple with the assistance of my guide. Of course, there were a lot of parts that still stuck with me but we all need a LITTLE help now and again. ;) So, again, I have to wait 38 days for The Wind Waker which looks to be another incredible game. Oddly enough, 250,000 people had pre-ordered TWW before today (the official start to the pre-order). If that gives any indication about how big TWW will be, then so be it. Meanwhile, snow. Lots of snow. Lots of snow to add to the snow we've already gotten. This winter has been just one big snow storm. 2 weeks tops of no snow at all, and then BLAMMO. Well, today I put my new jersey through the spin-o-rama (washing machine, dryer) and it still smells as it did out of the UPS bag. Drawback: a bunch of threads are poking out. I trimmed the longer ones. :/ Oh well...if I have this jersey when I get married I'll be happy. :) Current Music: Korn - My Gift To You |
